Lower Back & Neck Pain Care
Lower Back Pain
Neck Pain
Lower Back/Neck Pain: 8-9 out of 10 Americans will suffer from back or neck pain at least once in their lifetime and many suffer from recurring episodes of pain as well as chronic pain.  Acute pain can have many causes, but it almost always effect the body through muscle spasm, inflammation and swelling following trauma.  Chronic pain (pain lasting longer than 6-7 weeks) is usually complicated by deconditioning.  As the muscle and connective tissue goes into a guarding, protective mode, the amount of use and movement the area gets is decreased.  This serves to compromise functional capacity.  The longer this process of pain-spasm-weakening goes on, the more complicated the problem becomes.  Simple tasks such as bending to tie a shoe, or standing at the checkout counter can become very painful as the muscles have to tighten up to assist you in the activity.  This results in pain and inflammation and can lead to further weakening and degeneration of the joint and disc tissues. Herniated and bulging discs in the spine are a common problem for many patients with many being told that surgery is the only option.  For these patients, we offer the MedX Spinal Rehabilitation program which has been used by many surgeons to prevent spine surgery in their own patients.  In fact, spine surgery can be prevented 80%-90% of the time by using the MedX rehab program.  By utilizing this program, we have been able to help many patients avoid surgery and return to a normal lifestyle. Patients that suffer from fibromyalgia and myofasciitis have also responded well to our treatment program.
